In this workshop lead by school-based yoga instructor Emily Fleming, participants learn what it takes to establish themselves as a school instructor or yoga program – whether as an external program partner or internally as a staff member.

Between Emily’s presentation and take-home worksheets, participants will:

  • reflect on their niche, vision, and goals for their school based programming;
  • learn to structure their programming to promote desired student outcomes;
  • develop an action plan for getting started in light of common school planning timelines;
  • leave with tips for communicating with school administrators about their program offerings.

About our Presenter

Emily Fleming, M.A.T., RYT500, RCYT, YACEP is a yoga teacher and educator in Baltimore, Maryland. Emily joined Teach for America as a corps member after graduating from Colby College in 2012, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University in 2014. Emily currently teaches yoga and mindfulness full time at a middle school in Baltimore, weaving lessons on character development into the practices.

Emily has taught yoga and mindfulness full-time in a school for the last four years! Entering her 8th year in the classroom, Emily has extensive knowledge as an educator and yoga teacher, and knows the in’s and out’s of manifesting a position teaching yoga in schools, and creating curriculum and a strong classroom culture.

Emily completed her 200-hour hatha yoga training through Earth Heart Yoga in 2011, and her 300-hour Rasa yoga teacher training in 2019 with Sianna Sherman. Additionally, Emily completed her 95-hour children’s yoga training through Little Flower Yoga in 2017. Emily has studied extensively with Elena Brower, participating in her “Art of Attention” teacher training in 2014.

Emily currently serves as the Community Leader of Free Baltimore Yoga, a collective of yoga teachers committed to making yoga more accessible to everyone by offering free, studio quality yoga classes in non-studio spaces throughout Baltimore City.
