This workshop will help yoga instructors more effectively incorporate books and stories in a yoga lesson or classroom teachers incorporate yoga into a reading lessons. Participants will be able to articulate how yoga class story techniques support key reading development processes: verbal, visual, and comprehension. Workshop will incorporate examples and help participants identify opportunities to teach yoga philosophy, mindfulness, and social-emotional lessons though engaging children’s literature.

About Our Presenters
Meg Durkin, MLIS, E-RYT, RCYT, is the founder of Mindfulness with Meg, a national Yoga 4 Classroom® & ChildLight Education Company® trainer, and a certified Health Coach. Meg has taught children’s yoga in the Boston area since 2009. Previous to yoga teaching, Meg worked for a management consulting company helping them to create an internal knowledge management platform while using her Master’s in Library and Information Science degree. Her library science degree continues to help Meg incorporate literature and the love of books into her yoga and mindfulness classes.
Jennifer Mueller, MA, E-RYT, RCYT, has been teaching yoga for all ages since 2008. She founded Breathing Space Washington DC to create hub for family yoga on Capitol Hill. Jen holds a variety of children’s yoga certifications ad is a trainer for ChildLight Education Company®, an educator of infant massage, international board certified lactation consultant, and prenatal yoga instructor. Prior to teaching yoga full time, Jen spent more than a decade in non-profit administration and advocacy communications. Her experience in social change movements and managing charitable organizations has been extremely helpful when working with schools and community organizations to implement yoga and mindfulness programs for children.
