Looking for new ways to use music with engage early childhood and elementary aged students in your classes or at home? Join us for this workshop to learn ways to use music or rhythm into your kids yoga and mindfulness classes to keep kids focused and engaged. Song-writing can take many different forms and can be as simple as using chants or call and responses with a beat or clap. Through self-reflection and journaling activities, you’ll be encouraged to find your own spark of creativity for using music or rhythm into your classes. You’ll learn tips on things to consider when writing a song or a chant and more. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to tap into your own creativity and collaborate with others to create new songs and rhythms during break-out sessions and leave this workshops with new songs or rhythms to use immediately in your kids yoga and mindfulness classes.
In this workshop ANYONE can:
- Learn how to use songs to make the process of helping children to “check in” with their feelings in a way that’s easy and fun
- Develop a stronger connection to what sparks your own joy and inspiration
- Know exactly what to consider when writing a song or a chant for children
- Learn simple ways to create lyrics and melodies and why these are important for kids along with learning and writing songs with the intention of using lyrics to help cultivate mindfulness and awareness
Participants will get hands-on experience writing a song or chant and experiential learning practices along with feedback from both Lianne and participants.

Who should take this workshop? Anyone who teaches yoga and mindfulness to kids (early childhood/elementary age) who’s interested in learning more about ways to use music and rhythm into your classes to keep kids engaged and focused by tapping into your own creativity and the creativity of others who join this workshop. Parents with children who are interested in incorporating mindfulness and music at home are also encouraged to join. Anyone can write a song or create rhythms — it doesn’t need to look a certain way.

About Lianne Bassin
Lianne Bassin is a Children’s Yoga and Mindfulness Instructor as well as a children’s musician. She has been teaching early childhood students for the past 15 years, and is certified through Little Flower Yoga. Lianne has written and recorded two award winning children’s mindfulness albums, Breathe In and Everyone Grows, which help children to internalize mindfulness concepts.
Her music has received Parents’ Choice and NAPPA Awards. Lianne has presented about music and mindfulness at The National Kids Yoga Conference as well as at the Young Child Expo and Conference. She enjoys writing new music regularly and performing her songs in front of children, parents and educators.
