Sarah Herrington, MFA, ERYT, YACEP, is the founder and lead facilitator of OM Schooled, a teacher and writer.
She founded OM Schooled Youth Yoga Teacher Trainings in 2010 out of her own work as a full-time on-staff yoga teacher and curriculum developer in a NYC charter elementary school. She has now trained hundreds of kids yoga teachers, internationally. Also a writer, she is the author of four books on yoga, and has written about yoga for the New York Times, Yoga Journal, and Poets and Writers Magazine. She has also written other creative work for the LATimes, Interview Magazine, Oprah Magazine and the New York Times Modern Love column.
Sarah has mentored teen girl writers in the New York City public school system through the nonprofit organization Girls Write Now. For several years, she worked to establish the first Master of Arts in Yoga Studies in North America at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she continues to teach on how to teach yoga in schools as part of their Yoga, Mindfulness and Social Change curriculum. In addition to teaching via OM Schooled, she teaches creative writing at NYU, and holds an MFA in Creative Writing. She loves weaving yoga and meditation lessons for youth together with creative writing to give all students lots of tools for self-expression, reflection, and joy.
